"Lincolns Double Victors. - Make an Auspicious Start in Season's Opening Games. - The first semi-pro baseball games of the season were played yesterday at Olympic Field, where the Lincoln Giants, last season's Eastern champions, defeated the Chesters, 11 to 0, and the Maujers, 4 to 0. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play the New London club and the Elmhurst team."

"Lincolns Double Victors. - Defeat New London and Elmhurst Clubs. - The Lincoln Giants won two more games yesterday at Olympic Field, defeating the New London Club, 2 to 1, and the Elmhurst nine, 9 to 0. Williams pitched part of the first game and went the route in the second. Next Sunday the Lincolns will meet the College Point and Ironsides teams."

"Winning Streak Broken. - Highbridge Nine Defeats Lincoln Giants Through Rally in Ninth. - The Lincoln Giants' string of victories was shattered yesterday at Olympic Field in the second game of a double header by the Highbridge nine, which won 5 to 3. In the last inning Nestor was hit by a pitched ball. Linder singled and after Forbes booted Farricker's roller Wendell and Wernecke singled, three runs resulting. In the first game the Lincolns beat Danbury 8 to 0. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play the Camp Meritt and Hunt's Point teams."

"Lincoln and Royals to Clash. - Tomorrow at Olympic Field, 136th Street and Fifth Avenue, the Lincoln Giants and Royal Giants meet in their first double-header for the colored championship. The feature of the game will be the first appearance of Cannonball Dick Redding, who will be in the box for the Royal Giants, and will be opposed by his old teammate and rival, Cyclone Joe Williams, in the opening game at 1:30 p.m. In the final session Big Tom Williams, the wonder from the Chicago American Giants, will twirl for the Royals and will be opposed by Phil Cockrell, the spitball artist of the Lincoln Giants."

"Lincolns Lose Two Games. - Drop Opener to Royal Giants in Twelfth - New Pitching Stars. - In two keenly contested games at Olympic Field yesterday the Royal Giants took the measure of the Lincoln Giants, 4 to 3 in twelve innings and 4 to 3 in regulation time. In the first game two new star semi-pro pitchers were unearthed in Tom Williams of the Royals and Cockrell of the Lincolns. They pitched splendid ball for eleven innings before each was relieved. Both received rounds of applause from the biggest crowd ever seen at the ball park. Redding beat Joe Williams in the second game. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play two games with the Cuban Stars."

"Cubans Lose Two Games. - Padron Twice Knocked Out of Box by Lincoln Giants. - The Lincoln Giants twice knocked Padron out of the box and scored a double victory over the Cuban Stars of Havana at Olympic Field yesterday. The scores were 11 to 6 and 13 to 5. In the second game Williams and McLoughlin of the Lincolns hit the ball over the centre field fence for a home run. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play Highbridge and New London.

"Highbridge in Return Game. - The Highbridge team, which recently beat the Lincoln Giants, 5 to 3, by a rally in the ninth inning that scored three runs, will play the Harlem nine a return game at Olympic Field, 136th street and Fifth Avenue, next Sunday. Wernecke and Lew Wendell, former Giant, will be the Highbridge battery, and Joe Williams and Doc Wiley will oppose them. In the first game the Lincolns will play the New London club."

"Lincolns Win and Lose. - Wernecke of Highbridge Athletics Joins National Army. - In a heavy hitting contest the Lincoln Giants were defeated by the Highbridge Athletics at Olympic Field yesterday, 11 to 5. Wernecke, who was to have pitched for the Athletics, reported yesterday morning to his draft board to join the colors. In the first game the Lincolns beat the New London club, 6 to 4. Next Sunday the Brooklyn Royal Giants will play two games with the Lincolns."

The first games of the series the Royals won both after hard battles. In the first game at 1:#0 p.m., Cannon Ball Dick Redding will be on the slab for the Royal Giants, while Cyclone Joe Williams for the Lincolns will oppose him. In the final game Big Tom Williams will be the slabster for the Royal Giants, while the Lincoln Giants will have their spitball artist, McLaughlin, on the firing line."

The first game will start at 1:30. Cannon Ball Redding, former star pitcher of the Lincolns, and Cyclone Joe Williams will pitch the first game. Tom Williams and McLoughlin will pitch the second."

The first game went eleven innings. John Henry Lloyd and Joe Williams were hurt in the first game. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play a double bill with the Cuban Stars."

Next Sunday the Lincolns will play College Point and Poughkeepsie. Larry McLean will catch for Poughkeepsie."

A crowd that packed the stands at Olympic Field yesterday saw Larry McLean's Poughkeepsie team go down to defeat at the hands of the Lincoln Giants in the feature of a double header, 7 to 1. In the first game the Lincolns beat the College Point nine, 5 to 3. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play the Highbridge nine and the De Peyster team of Tivoli, New York."

Next Sunday the Lincolns will play the third of their series of double headers with the Royal Giants."

The Lincolns have not won a game from the Royal Giants, and to keep up their winning streak have engaged John Donaldson, a successful Western pitcher, to take the place of 'Cannon Ball' Redding, as the latter has joined the colors and is now overseas."

He will make his local debut this afternoon in the second game of a doubleheader between the Lincoln Giants and the Royal Giants. Joe Williams will be his opponent. The games will be the fifth and sixth of their series. The Royals won the four played to date, two victories coming in the eleventh inning."

Next Sunday the same teams will clash in a double header."

Lincolns. - The Cuban Stars, reinforced with a battery that will arrive from Havana next Saturday, will play a double header with the Lincoln Giants at Olympic Field, 136th street and Fifth avenue on Sunday. The Stars have played four games with the Lincolns to date and lost each, but the team has been considerably strengthened since the last meeting and expects to turn the tables on the locals."

Rain prevented the teams from playing the second game of the twin bill. Next Sunday the Lincolns will play the Naval Reserves and the Chevrolet team of Peekskill, New York."

"Sailors At Olympic Field. - The Naval Reserves, composed of star collegians from half a dozen institutions and several minor leaguers, will tackle the Lincoln Giants in a feature of a double header at Olympic Field, 136th Street and Fifth Avenue, next Sunday. The Reserves have taken the measure of some of the best semi-pro teams in the East this season. In the first game the Lincoln Giants will meet the Chevrolet team of Tarrytown, NY."
